FAQ

Who produces Biu Biu chicken?

Biu Biu’s manufacturing company, Chirina, is the largest poultry complex in the South Caucasus. The company is vertically integrated, which means it controls quality at every stage of production—from sourcing raw materials for poultry feed to the distribution of finished chicken meat products.

How many years has Biu Biu been on the market?

Biu Biu chicken has been available on the market since 2013.

What is the difference between frozen and fresh products?

Biu Biu chicken meat is sold both fresh and frozen.
Fresh chicken meat is delivered to Biu Biu stores chilled at 2–4 °C.
Frozen products are frozen on the day of slaughter in special freezers at –35 to –40 °C and then stored at –18 °C. Accordingly, frozen products need to be thawed at room temperature before consumption.

Fresh products do not require thawing, which saves time for the customer. They are also characterized by higher culinary and taste qualities.

Where is Biu Biu chicken meat produced?

Production takes place in Georgia.
Chirina’s farming complexes are located in the Gardabani district, in the villages of Sartichala, Martkopi, and Gamarjveba.

The breeding flock is raised, eggs are laid, and the incubation of these eggs takes place in the village of Martkopi.
The hatched chicks are raised at farms located in the village of Sartichala.
The slaughter of fully grown chickens takes place at a meat processing facility located in the village of Gamarjveba.

Biu Biu chickens are raised on farms equipped with modern machinery and equipment. All conditions are in place to ensure the birds grow in a healthy environment.
Local residents are employed at the farming complex.

What is Biu Biu chicken fed with?

Biu Biu chickens are fully fed with raw materials grown on Georgian soil—corn and wheat.
Chirina owns land near Sartichala where high-quality corn and wheat are cultivated.
The company also purchases and processes locally produced raw materials from Georgian farmers.
Grain is received and stored in specialized facilities, where drying and temperature control of the raw materials are carried out.

How is grain quality controlled?

Grain quality is tested in Chirina LLC’s laboratory.
Its chemical and microbiological condition is examined, and raw materials are accepted only if they successfully pass laboratory testing.
In addition, corn and wheat undergo thermal processing, which helps prevent microbiological contamination of the feed. As a result, Biu Biu chickens are fed exclusively with safe and natural feed.

Under what conditions are Biu Biu chickens raised?

Biu Biu chicken production takes place entirely in Georgia, using modern technologies and European standards, which ensure the highest quality of the final product.

What should we know about Biu Biu chicken farms?

Biu Biu poultry is raised on modern farms built to European standards, where all key processes are automated.
Feed and water are supplied automatically in enclosed farms in the required quantities, ensuring a proper feeding regime and protecting the birds from external threats.

During the growing period, biosecurity rules and essential technological parameters are strictly observed, including stocking density, lighting, heating, ventilation, and cooling.
Chirina built its farms in cooperation with the Israeli company Agro Top, while the internal equipment and automated systems were provided by Big Dutchman.

We can confidently say that our chickens are raised in a clean and healthy environment.

How is meat processing carried out?

The meat processing facility is equipped with European machinery that meets international standards.

The meat processing process is carried out on a high-standard production line with minimal human involvement, resulting in perfectly cleaned chicken.

Why is Biu Biu chicken sold without added frozen water?

Chirina has implemented an innovative air-chilling technology on its production line, which ensures that Biu Biu meat products are as dry as possible, so customers do not have to pay for frozen water.

Who carries out product quality control and how is it performed?

The Sana Laboratory is a unit of Chirina LLC.
The laboratory is accredited to the ISO 17025:2010 standard by the Georgian Accreditation Center.

At the Sana laboratory, the quality of Biu Biu chicken meat, as well as the quality of poultry feed raw materials, is thoroughly and regularly tested across various parameters.
Sana is equipped with modern equipment and operates in accordance with established standards. The laboratory serves both the company itself and Georgian and international poultry producers.

Why are Biu Biu products safe?

Biu Biu chicken is raised exclusively on natural feed, without any hormonal or genetically modified additives, making it completely safe for both children and adults.

Why does a Biu Biu egg have two yolks?

Our company’s primary products are chicken meat products.
We do not carry out the targeted production of table eggs.

Interestingly, double-yolk eggs are usually laid by hens at the beginning and toward the end of their laying cycle. These eggs do not differ in taste from regular eggs.
During the egg sorting process at the incubator, all double-yolk eggs are classified as table eggs, along with eggs of non-standard size.

All remaining standard-sized eggs are sent for incubation, from which Biu Biu chicks hatch.

Why is Biu Biu chicken pale (light-colored) rather than yellow?

During the full processing of Biu Biu chicken, specifically during defeathering, a special automated machine is used.
Defeathering is carried out using soft rubber fingers of the machine, which remove feathers along with the epidermal layer of the skin (the outer, surface cells), which is yellow. As a result, without this layer, the chicken has a white color.

If the chicken were gently defeathered by hand, it would remain yellow, as this thin yellow skin layer would not be removed.
The advantage of automated defeathering is that the process is more hygienic compared to manual defeathering.

What is the shelf life of Biu Biu fresh meat products?

The temperature of fresh chilled chicken products is maintained between 0 °C and 4 °C.
It is best to use fresh products on the same day. Under proper refrigeration conditions at home, freshly slaughtered chicken can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. If longer storage is required, the product should be placed in the freezer.

Refreezing chicken after it has been thawed is not allowed.

What breed of chicken is Biu Biu chicken?

Biu Biu chicken is a meat-type broiler breed, which grows quickly when provided with proper nutrition and raised under modern technological conditions, reaching slaughter weight (1,900–2,200 g) in 38 days.
The birds receive all necessary nutrients in carefully balanced proportions, allowing them to reach the desired weight rapidly and without any hormonal additives.

How is Biu Biu chicken delivered to stores?

Our partner company, GDG (Georgian Distribution Group), is responsible for product distribution.
Distribution vehicles are equipped with modern refrigeration units with temperature control, allowing Biu Biu products to be delivered to any retail outlet across Georgia.

How long does the resupply process at Biu Biu branches take?

The restocking process at Biu Biu retail locations takes no more than 40 minutes.

Why is the liver bloody? Why is it watery?

It is not water that comes out of the liver, but blood. The liver is one of the main organs where blood is stored (deposited). After slaughter, like all parts of the body, it is drained of blood; however, a certain amount of blood remains and is released during the storage period.

When blood comes out of the liver, it is a sign of freshness. Liver that is 2–3 days old no longer releases blood.

Why is it not allowed for customers to take products using their own containers (plastic bags)?

The products sold are fresh and do not have separate packaging (unlike frozen chicken products, which are sold pre-packaged). Therefore, in order to ensure sanitary safety and maintain high product quality, the product must be placed in the provided plastic bag, which is specifically intended for food products.

Is it possible to leave purchased products at the store?

Leaving purchased products at the store is a frequent question from customers; however, this practice is unfortunately prohibited for hygiene reasons.

There are also many cases where customers leave their products behind, forget to pick them up, and return several days later when the product has already expired. Since this involves fresh products, such situations may cause confusion and dissatisfaction on the customer’s side. Therefore, leaving purchased products at the store is not allowed.

Is it possible to return purchased products?

Product returns are possible only in cases of a legitimate complaint and upon presentation of a purchase receipt.

Why are we unable to sell products during the resupply process?

During the product receiving process, the sales system is switched to inventory intake mode, which is why product sales are temporarily restricted.

What are the health benefits of chicken meat?

Chicken meat is one of the most important components of a healthy diet.
It is rich in vitamins A, B, and D.

Vitamin B strengthens the immune system, regulates the digestive system, supports the nervous system, and increases the body’s resistance to migraines, diabetes, and high cholesterol.
